Getting our home on the Market with a time frame of two weeks seemed a daunting task. We have lived in our home for ten years and raised 4 children, over that time we have accumulated a lot of belongings.
After sitting down and trying to come to terms with how we were going to tackle this our Real Estate Agent (Sandra Bullock of Harcourts Papakura) put us in touch with DIY home staging. I called Helana and she made an appointment at our home within two days.
Helana has this wonderful knowledge of creating space, moving furniture, removing furniture, de cluttering, placing nicknack's around the home for example candles, magazines, soaps, tips on folding towels etc. all using most if not all your own property so no extra outlay if you didn't or couldn't afford it, saying that I purchased a large statement mirror and some real life like green apples, 2x Magazines and 2x throws for the beds which made a difference.
So for two hours we went from room to room writing down her recommendations also moving furniture so that we could to see how the room looked, what a difference moving a couch or bookshelf can make. We also went outside and moved a table, chairs and pots.
When Helana left we got set to work, the bonus being having my parents garage to store the excess stuff but I'm sure a neighbour or friend even a few storage boxes would help.
End result being our home still looked like a family home- that was important to me. Our home looked cleaner more organised and spacious. It had the wow factor that I was looking for.
We have had our first open home and all positive feedback on the presentation of our home.
