Hello Helena
Just a quick email to let you know how very much I enjoyed the time I spent with you the other day. The best $250 dollars I have spent in a long time.
I learnt so much and had so much fun as well. If we don't go to market I will still implement some of what I have learnt.
If we do sell I will have to get you back to see how you can help me in the new home.
I will certainly recommend you to any one I know that would need your services.
Warmest regards
Nicky Waihi

Getting our home on the Market with a time frame of two weeks seemed a daunting task. We have lived in our home for ten years and raised 4 children, over that time we have accumulated a lot of belongings.
After sitting down and trying to come to terms with how we were going to tackle this our Real Estate Agent (Sandra Bullock of Harcourts Papakura) put us in touch with DIY home staging. I called Helana and she made an appointment at our home within two days.
Helana has this wonderful knowledge of creating space, moving furniture, removing furniture, de cluttering, placing nicknack's around the home for example candles, magazines, soaps, tips on folding towels etc. all using most if not all your own property so no extra outlay if you didn't or couldn't afford it, saying that I purchased a large statement mirror and some real life like green apples, 2x Magazines and 2x throws for the beds which made a difference.
So for two hours we went from room to room writing down her recommendations also moving furniture so that we could to see how the room looked, what a difference moving a couch or bookshelf can make. We also went outside and moved a table, chairs and pots.
When Helana left we got set to work, the bonus being having my parents garage to store the excess stuff but I'm sure a neighbour or friend even a few storage boxes would help.
End result being our home still looked like a family home- that was important to me. Our home looked cleaner more organised and spacious. It had the wow factor that I was looking for.
We have had our first open home and all positive feedback on the presentation of our home.
Thank you Helana you have made a big difference with little cost involved. I will be in contact when we move into our new home for all your wonderful idea's.

I've been so busy getting www.diyhomestaging.co.nz live... it's getting there
Ok so I still haven't plucked up the courage to paint that couch ... because I have been searching to see how it really turns out and it seems the outcomes vary A LOT!! So I don't really want to muck it up - however it's just taking up precious space and collecting dust in my garage. so what to do...
Anyway I just found a new product... and this chair someone else did
Painted chair To me it looks great but I really just wonder what it feels like. So I'm first going to see if I can get my hands on this paint in NEW ZEALAND and then try a fabric swatch. |

PAINTING MY KIDS COUCH
So I have been meaning for 4 years to re-upholster this children's couch. I paid about $150 for it on Trademe.co.nz it had been in a Dentist's waiting room. However its ugly as sin and I couldn't bare to use it the way it is... over $800 to get it re-upholstered ( can't remember if that included material.. but doubt it) It needs almost as much as a big couch they told me.
Anyway I saw a few months ago you can paint furniture... so I'm going to do this project... heck I'm not spending a $1000 on a kids couch no matter how much money I have!!!
So I'll put my progress up!
... anyone ever done it before? I might need to order a few additives from overseas... good ol Google should help me out.
